When you purchase our Stretch Wrap Sling or Wrap Sling, if you want your baby to accept and feel comfortable with it, the very first trial should be at a moment when your baby is calm and peaceful. Why?
Because your baby has never been introduced to the sling before and doesn’t know it yet. If you try it for the first time during a “crisis moment”—when your baby is hungry, needs a diaper change, or has gas—they will not want to be placed into an unfamiliar product. At that moment, all they want is for you to resolve their discomfort, not to try something new that might feel stressful.
That’s why the first experience should happen when your baby is at their happiest (with a full tummy, a clean diaper, not during colic hours, and free from sleepiness or gas). If possible, make the first trial easier with a short outdoor walk or a gentle stroll at home or on the balcony.
When your baby’s needs are met and they are calm, they will feel that with the sling, they are even closer to their mother or father than they would be in arms. This way, they will begin to love and recognize the sling.
Once your baby gets used to it, things become much easier! You can use our sling during every crisis moment because your baby already knows and trusts it. In fact, after they’re familiar with it, the sling becomes a true lifesaver 👍🏻—whether your baby is crying, has gas, is constipated, or is struggling to fall asleep. The sling will come to the rescue for both you and your baby, because now they know it makes them feel better. That’s why they won’t reject it; instead, they’ll want the sling whenever they need comfort. 🥰❣
And one last important reminder: along with timing, making sure the sling is tied correctly is a key factor in ensuring a positive experience. 🤗
